Text: Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

These are incredible verses. Hebrews chapter 11 ends with the hall of fame of the faithful. The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews invites the Chrisian audience to be encouraged during a season of severe persecution. He wants the testimony of the faithful to inspire them to “throw off everything that hinders them” and to castaside the “sin that so easily entangles”. Having done that by making a renewed commitment to Jesus by “fixing” their eyes on Him, who is “the author and perfector of faith”, they can then be inspired to “run with perseverance the race that is set before them.” To cap it all off, the audience is encouraged to remember Jesus who suffered at the hands of Jesus. All this so that they would not grow weary and lose heart.

What are you going through? What trials and difficulties are you experiencing? Let these verses encouraged you to stay focus on Jesus, run the race with joy and know His peace and victory.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for this Word that gives me all the strategies I need for today to walk in peace, run with joy and know your victory, Be glorified in and through me today. In your name I pray. Amen.
