Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
May 5 2026
Text: Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
When Jesus made the statement – For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost., it was made in reference to Zaccheus. Zaccheus was an extremely wealthy tax collector and Jesus went to his house to have dinner. In response, Zaccheus repented and turned to Jesus and returned the monies that he has made at the expense of his people. It is after this that Jesus says “for the son of man came to seek and save the lost”.
What is interesting to note is that what Jesus did when He walked the face of the earth, are the exact same things that He wants us to do as well. And how ironic, we are so quick to say – “Hey Jesus, I want to follow you and be like you”, but when we realize that Jesus wants us to make disciples, that He wants us to seek and save the lost, we don’t want to do that. The irony is, Jesus isn’t asking, he isn’t suggesting – He’s telling us – that’s what you are to be doing if you want to follow me.
It’s time we start being obedient to the things He wants us to do.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, whatever unfolds this day, may I be prepared and empowered to seek and save the lost, bringing people to Jesus. In His name I pray. Amen.
