Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:44
I will always obey your law, for ever and ever.
The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). And yesterday we saw the importance of memorizing and meditating on the Word of God. The Word of God begins to change us, and affect us. The Word of God compels us to obedience. As we remain constant in the Word, and consistent in memorizing and meditating on the Word of God – we will have the constant and consistent desire to obey the Word of God – forever.
But it can be tough to stay in the Word. That is why we have to ask everyday for the Holy Spirit to release His power in us to “will” and to “obey” (Philippians 2:13). Without the Holy Spirit, this is not going to work.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I surrender myself to you today, may the Holy Spirit empower me to memorize scripture and motivate me to meditate on the Word, so that I might be obedient to the Word and bring glory to you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
