Text: Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
We have just celebrated the incredibly Good News, that the one was crucified, has been raised from the dead. Being raised from the dead, means that Jesus is alive. However, there is more to this Good News. The Good News also includes the reality that Jesus Christ lives in me, just as we read in Galatians 2:20. In being born again we were crucified, the old nature cut away, dead and buried, and we were raised to new life in Christ, and He in us. Think about that for a moment. The one through whom all things were created, the risen Lord, Yahweh himself has taken up residence within us. This means that we have all the means, all the power, all the wisdom, and all the discernment to live this life. This is why this verse of Galatians 2;20 read like this in the New Living Translation: “So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” This gives a profound depth to the understanding that Jesus is Emmanuel – God with us (in the flesh), God for us (on the cross) and God in us (by the Spirit). It’s as we trust in Him, and abide Him that He will live His life in us, that His light will shine from within us and those around us will be impacted by His presence. This means that we don’t ever have to worry or be anxious about anything.
Prayer: Gracious Lord Jesus, thank you for taking up residence within me. As I yield myself to you, release your presence and power through me, that I might be empowered to live completely in and for you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
