Daily Light: October 26th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

October 26 2026

Text: Psalm 119:81

My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.

Another challenge that Christ followers face is the challenge of “waiting”. We don’t like waiting because it is such a waste of time. And that’s true. In fact, research has show that a life of 80 years will have spent 5 of those years waiting. Waiting for the red light to change to green. Waiting for the kettle to boil. Waiting in the waiting room at the Doctor’s. Wait wait wait. What a waste of time. However, for the Christian waiting is not a waste of time – it is an expression of faith and confidence in the sovereignty of God. The Psalmist says in our verse that “my soul faints will longing for your salvation”. The Hebrew word here for “salvation” can also be “deliverance”. We are waiting for the Lord’s deliverance. We are waiting on the Lord’s timing and He is always on time. His Word tells us that He is faithful, and will always come through for us. That is our hope, because that is what the Word says.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for the truth that you are always faithful to your Word and that is my hope and confidence that you will deliver me from all my circumstances. Deliver me and be glorified. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
